Update: be prepared for a lot of work if you decide to do this. I ended up having to spackle and sand twice because once it dried it sank in and that had to be re-spackled & sanded. Looks nice now that it is done! UPDATE 2017: after going through the 4 seasons, the joint between panels would shrink during the cold. But it closes back up in the warmer weather. I would suggest using sheet rock tape on the seams so they don't crack in the winter. Make sure you cover your intake duct work so the fine dust doesn't go back to your HVAC. I had to replace my fan motor because it got clogged.
